Rawson has written a book showcasing four short but sweet stories. Each of the
stories is unique in their own right, making this a true, one of a kind read.
The first story “No Strings Attached” has the main character, Laura, in desperate need of a date. She has been invited to a wedding she must attend. Knowing her Ex will be there fills her with anxiety. With only three days left before the wedding, she really has no other choice than to take a co-worker who she loathes. What happens at the wedding is a shocker; great ending.
The second story “Learner Mum” is a tale of a married career oriented woman, Polly, who has no desire to ever become a mother. She is unexpectedly thrust into a situation where she must take care of her infant nephew for the weekend. At this point the story becomes a comedy, and the ending is touching.
Next, is “The Unexpected Blind Date”. The title of this story brings back a horrible memory from my childhood. Have you ever been on a blind date? Well I feel the same way Grace does….not going to happen, but after one too many drinks Grace softens to the idea. Is she making a big mistake or does this potential nightmare end with a dream?
Lastly, “Angel of Kindness” is the final story; this was the most emotional one for me. As we all know, Christmas is a hard time for some. For Megan, this time of the year always reminded her how sad and lonely she really was. The thought of spending the holidays with her wacky mother didn’t really appeal to her but it’s better than the alternative; though what transpires during her visit might just change her life forever.
