Sassy and sexy. Impossible to put down.

Applause for Ms Rawson’s adaptation of I’m Your Man, from a novella to novel. The novel is marvellous. In true Rawson style, she brings all her characters to life and of course, it wouldn’t be a Rawson book without her customary, quirky sense of humour.  

 

Ruth a highflying business woman is seduced by Justin’s good looks and what he can do in the bedroom. Even though she loves him, he does have one major fault. He has a dreadful habit of jibbing out at the last minute of every occasion that involves socialising, which really irritates the hell out of her. All she wants, is for people to get to know her boyfriend.

But will she ever have the one thing she wants more than anything—his love?

 

After yet another no show from Justin at her boss’s retirement party, Ruth heads for the public to drown her sorrows in Chardonnay. The last thing she remembers is sitting next to an average-looking guy with a nice accent and large hands and wondering just what those hands could do given half the chance.

Next morning, the bathroom door opens, and Mr. Average walks out. It is then she realises that at the ripe old age of thirty-three, she has experienced her first one-night stand.

Enter American attorney Danny who is everything Justin is not… The man she SHOULD be looking for.

From here I was engrossed. Twists and turns of hidden desires and dreams that is delightfully risqué and full of charm. I found myself joining in with Ruth’s friends Jenny and Vikki, making me root and shout at Ruth, “Come on… he’s no good for you. Danny is your man!”

But we’ve all been there haven’t we girls?

That what makes Ms Rawson’s books so realistic, that it could be me or you! A convincing story of being single in your thirties, struggling to find the perfect man.

I’m Your Man’s combination of reality, sex and humour, blends perfectly…with the perfect magic ending. Certainly illustrates Rawson’s gift for weaving original, brilliant romance that readers find impossible to put down.

A must read. 5/5

I’M YOUR MAN…..by Joanne Rawson

This is a well written, good story that reminds me of something I recently heard John Grisham say: If you want to read steamy romance scenes, get something written by a woman.

                 We meet high powered, conservative business woman Ruth Jones, who quickly shows herself as someone better suited to being an executive than a picker of good men.

                 Ruth gets serious about a creep named Justin, who the reader and just about everyone in London but Ruth recognizes as nothing but a user and a phony.

                 Then totally by accident, Ruth meets an American attorney named Danny, who is everything Justin is not: Caring, attentive and a general all-around stand-up guy. BUT, Ruth thinks she loves Justin and doesn’t want to betray him. Bad move, thinks I. Dump the weasel and explore Danny’s possibilities. But this isn’t a documentary and Ruth makes us grit our teeth and say, “Oh, girl, you should know better.”

                 The story moves very quickly. We find Ruth wrestling with thoughts of these two men and she finds herself in and out of Justin’s bedroom, which only clouds her mind some more.

                 You’ll have to read the book to see if this turns out to be one of those “they lived happily ever after” stories or it’s grounded more in reality where a decent woman remains with a lounge lizard and isn’t very happy at all. 5 stars.

The security supervisors at the mill, a former federal agent from the Diplomatic Security Service and a retired Marine Corps sniper had a serious confrontation with Helton during a demonstration organized by the activists. They soon become prime suspects in his disappearance.

As the search and investigation continues, an unrelated murder victim is found, more anomalies spring up, people are blatantly withholding information and nothing seems to be as it appears.

The question remains, with all those obstacles, can Jenkins and Gallagher find the missing person and restore order to their little chunk of paradise on “the peaceful side of the Smokies?”

I’ll just say it. I love Rawson’s down-to-earth, it-could-really-happen-to-me kind of romances. Full of drama, humor, and everyday decisions that we all make. I’m Your Man was originally a novella. The novel is even better, letting us get to know the characters better and fill in some of the blanks from the shorter version.

Ruth is mad about Justin, Mr. Traveling Man—because he’s hot. He constantly avoids socializing with her in public, using the excuse he doesn’t get to see her much. Some of her friends at work think she’s made him up. The others think she deserves better. So after another disappointment, and drunken spree to cheer herself up, Ruth wakes up with a stranger.

Danny, the one-night stand, who ends up being the man she SHOULD be looking for, isn’t invisible. But he’s not the hottie she wants to show off to her friends. He’s average, nice, and doesn’t mind commitment. He also doesn’t mind being her date at public events. Or spoiling her rotten. But Justin is so…

Rawson combines her usual sense of humor with a compassionate look at being single and struggling to find love AND the perfect guy in your thirties. It brought back some memories for me and made me root and cheer for Ruth and Danny. A thoroughly satisfying chick-flick romance. 5 stars!!!!

I'm Your Man Review

  Yes, I am going two book reviews back to back this week, however I wanted to review I'm Your Man by my dear friend Joanne Rawson today because today this book is available on Amazon! Joanne provided me with an ARC copy for an honest review, and I will also be including links to the websites where you can buy yourself a copy of this amazing book!

Ruth is happy with her boyfriend Justin, however as time goes on, she starts to wonder why he hasn't met her family, and every time she asks him to go somewhere, something suddenly comes up. When Ruth drowns her sorrows in a hotel bar one night, she wakes up the next morning discovering that she had a one night stand with the man, who she met at the bar. Ruth is thrown threw a whirlwind as she tries to figure out what and who she really wants. Can Ruth figure it out before it is too late?

 In true Joanne fashion, the story is told from multiple points of view, so that you can get the bigger picture, plus see what everyone is thinking. This book will have you laughing till your crying, and in the end you will be rooting for Ruth to pick a certain man, although I am not going to say who that is because I don't want to give anything away. I have always loved everything Joanne writes, and this one is no exception, and I am excited for what she will come out with next. She has a talent for making the characters become more human, and she makes the story jump out at the reader, while drawing you in. If you are looking for a sexy romance novel, than this is your kind of book. I suggest everyone pick up a copy, because this is one romance that you won't want to miss.
