While visiting my home town of Burton On Trent last week,
I stumbled upon the amazing talent of local singer songwriter Nick Aslam, who
is quoted to be, ‘One of the Uk’s most original sounding acoustic singer
songwriters.’
With great support from the BBC and local radio stations
across the UK, this has given Nick the opportunity to land support slots with Mark
Morris from the Blue Notes and Boz Boorer songwriter for the Smiths, as well as
playing acoustic venues such as O2 and UK festivals. Therefore, I was thrilled to be given a complimentary
CD of Nicks latest album - Night Train.
So, last night MR R and I sat down and listened to what
all the hype of this new talented singer had to offer. I have to say the hype
is true; Nick Aslam is a true professional.
Although we really enjoyed the first track Night Train, I have to say
the second track -The World’s End was a big hit for us both. This was really
when we appreciated Nick’s flair of being a first-class musician, taking me
back to my youth with a mix of Beautiful South, with a hint of Robbie, only
best described as a folkish pop that I really, really love. Forget Sam Smith or
Justin Bibier, Nick Aslam is the one to be looking out for.
