Blind dates can be tough. Well-meaning friends always think they know you better than you know yourself, but it's still one big crapshoot.

In Molly Whalen's The Art of Embellishing, Shay Mohan is fixated on a future with Bradley Ingersol, but when her friend Zoe tries to impart the sage advice that Brad is a player, a user, at best a lukewarm friend and not a true boyfriend, Shay doesn't want to hear it. Tired of seeing Shay being let down time and again, Zoe takes matters into her own hands and stealthily creates a dating profile for Shay on the Plenty of Fish dating site and begins screening for the perfect match for Shay.

Yet all the while, hunky new guy in town, Kyle McLemore is trying to get Shay's attention and getting repeatedly rebuffed. Can you blame a guy for using his own stealthy ideas to get Shay to open her eyes and truly see him for a forever kind of man?

In Joanne Rawson's Unexpected Blind Date, after consuming a bit too much alcohol at a bachelorette party, Grace Worthing agrees to be set up on a blind date with a shrink named Adrian. With sobriety, Grace's skeptical nature reasserts itself, but since she's pushing thirty and no prince charming has come for her, she thinks what-the-hell and dresses to kill for her date with Adrian at an upscale bar.

When Adrian doesn't arrive, an attractive stranger in a business suit at the next table takes pity on Grace and joins her for a drink. Grace finds Oliver Holland fascinating and, as it turns out, their families know one another and they'll soon have a new connection through work. Yet, here comes the very attractive Adrian. Better late than never, right?

And, finally, in Molly Whalen's How a Night Unfolds, mature businesswoman Quinn Hancock isn't looking for a relationship, so she doesn't mind when her friend Doris sets her up with Brandon, a man who hasn't dated anyone in a while. But Quinn and Brandon have so little in common that Brandon's antics make Quinn think she's being punked and that there must be a hidden camera crew somewhere in the hotel's bar.

With her over-the-top blind date concluded in record time, Quinn plans to head towards her hotel room, but an intriguing invitation to a night to remember changes Quinn's plans and she suddenly finds a mystery man she glanced at earlier in the bar is slowly sweeping her off her feet.

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF A BLIND DATE is a wickedly cute chick-lit anthology of three stories spiced with realism and humor all in a short 125 pages. All three heroines are relatable and their stories make for quick, engaging reads that can be savored over several lunch hours or totally consumed in one lazy afternoon. These are light, fun reads told with candor and sparkling dialogue.

Those who adore romantic chick-lit will delight in these humorous tales of the modern dating scene.

Thanks to Angie for this great review.

Take a moment to share my Sunday Morning walk in Candolim Goa.

Every day MR R and I take a walk down the beach, but today the monsoon rains held off and we extended out walk into a small Candolim hamlet.  To our joy we found four boys fishing in a stream, just as we walked up to them one caught his prize catch of the day, the other three came running with great gusto to find he had caught a baby cat fish.

It seems all you need is a stick, some fishing wire, attached to the wire a piece of brick and some polystyrene as a float.

Don’t forget your worms need to be kept in a empty coconut shell, and a bucket for your catch.

MR R getting some fishing tips.

Just a few more pictures from our walk.

5/5 Review From With Her Nose Stuck In A Book - Trials And Tribulations Of A Blind Date

Thank you once again to Ashley, (on the left) for another wonderful review.

With Her Nose Stuck In A Book

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Hey guys,

This is a book by two different authors, Joanne Rawson and Molly Whalen. These two amazing writers styles go together so well to make up  different blind date stories. They will both have you laughing and wanting to kill the main character for being so stupid at times. All of the male leads are to die for and they are  from different professions, but these  stories go so well together, that you will love them all. Plus, from the cover you are drawn in to the funny world before reading one word.

Here is the summary for both of these amazing authors stories.....

"The Art of Embellishing Molly Whalen

Shay Mohan always thought honesty was the best policy and you treat people the way you want to be treated. And yet every relationship she had left her feeling burned until Zoe, her friend, took matters into her own hands and signed her up on an online dating site. Things begin to heat up when the 'White Knight' appears but is he really who he says he is or just blowing smoke?

Unexpected Blind Date by Joanne Rawson

If any of Grace Worthing's friends dared to suggest she should go on a blind date, her answer would have been, "Blind dates are so tacky; they are definitely for the desperate." She was so over men! After her fifth Sex on the Beach cocktail she told friends she would never have sex again, let alone have sex on a beach. Then, somewhere between her second and third tequila slammer, Grace found herself, agreeing to meet Adrian. Little did she know how interesting and unexpected her blind date would be.

How A Night Unfolds by Molly Whalen

Quinn Hancock had it all, a life that everyone dreams of, but few are able to attain. She was what you called a "triple threat," brains, beauty, and financially successful, but none of those things kept her warm at night. She thought a change of scenery to the windy city may be just the thing to breathe life back into her love life. When her friend tries to fix her up on a blind date with a business associate, Quinn quickly figures out the difference between a blind date and being blindsided."

What I really loved about these stories, is any girl out there could relate to the main female character. We have all been on dates with losers and maybe had one blind date too many. I can relate because I have been on dates that were just as horrible as these stories, but the only difference is I haven't met the right one yet. These two authors can make you feel like you are in the story with the characters. This is one amazing book that you won't want to put down and will want to read again and again

Enjoy!!!!     Ashley

This felt like a whole novel packed into under 25 pages. Do I wish it was longer of course, but it's the first Joanna Rawson work I've read and I look forward to seeing if her other books are just as well written.

Thanks to Chanpreet Singh. As always a great pleasure to hear from my readers.    http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Strings-Attached-ebook/dp/B00B7RU014/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363514342&sr=8-1

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY – RISLEY PARK

Situated minutes from junction 25 of the M1 in the beautiful village of Risley is the Risley Park, pub and restaurant.

A chic designed contemporary bar with a sleek atmosphere of a London Hotel. The sophisticated restaurant has a luxurious feel, while contemplating the mouth-watering menu.

All this made it the perfect location for my two characters to enjoy a romantic meal, after a day out in the Derbyshire Peak District.

Ok, so I had a little insider information, having been there and my son was once the assistant manager there, before taking over as manager of the Tattersall Park.

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to use this perfect Restaurant in my new book.

While writing my Christmas Story the other day I found my characters spending a romantic day in the Derbyshire Peak District.  Due to Mr R and me over the last few years traveling Asia, it had me thinking about our own days out in the Peak District. The first thing that came to mind was finding it irresistible not to visit Hartington Cheese Shop, try as I might I could not leave without buying their amazing, mouth watering cheese.

Contacting them asking for permission to mention them in my book I was overjoyed when they kindly agreed.

Set in the heart of the village of Hartington,  overlooking the duck pond, there couldn't be a more picturesque setting for a small retail business and a romantic story! If you are visiting the Derbyshire Peak District then head for Hartington cheese shop and meet the friendly and knowledgeable team and browse their wide range of cheeses, wines, beers, and speciality goods.

A must visit if you ever find yourself in Derbyshire, and if you live in Derbyshire and never been then take the time, you don’t know what you have been missing.

Once again thanks to Clare and the staff at Hartington Cheese Shop.
